January Working Table Updates

While it may have looked grey and generally blah outside, January for the SCFC was exciting, inspiring and warm. Although getting everything back online after a holiday season takes a bit of time, we've managed to start putting together our projects and tasks for the year to come. Once everything has been fine-tuned and approved, we'll pass that exciting news on to you, dear reader.

Community of Practice

We held our first Community of Practice session on January 23rd. The very well-attended session was led by our new Chair, Vanessa Hurley, RD and Public Nutritionist with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. The free presentation was on the latest local and provincial household food insecurity stats, the health impacts of food insecurity, and the 2023 Nutritious Food Basket Survey results. The Nutritious Food Basket Survey is a tool to help monitor food affordability in Simcoe County Muskoka. We had over 50 attendees at peak and discussion and questions made for a lively follow-up to the presentation. Stay tuned for our next one!
